■Outcome :

At the meeting, the three Ministers reviewed the progress and achievement of trilateral cooperation on tourism in past four years and discussed the further cooperation under three main agendas including 1) A new area of tourism exchange among Japan, China and the ROK, 2) Promotion of “Visit East Asia Campaign”, 3) Quality enhancement of trilateral tourism exchange.

The three Ministers reached consensus on making the joint efforts in increasing the visitor numbers among the three countries from 20 million in 2014 up to 30 million by 2020. Moreover, they agreed to launch “Visit East Asia Campaign”, which is a joint regional tourism project to attract the visitors from the regions beyond East Asia such as America and European countries.

After the meeting, the three Ministers held a joint press conference and signed the Joint Statement of the 7th meeting which included the expectation on strengthening the cooperation with the TCS in facilitating mutual exchange, regional exchange and culture-sports-youth exchange among the three countries.

“Trilateral Tourism Exchange Forum” took place as the sideline event of the 7th Trilateral Tourism Ministers' Meeting with the participation of the private travel agencies and relevant organizations of the three countries.

■Outcome :

The Ministers deeply discussed issues at hand including: 1) establishing contingency system for emergent accidents in tourism together; 2) setting up the outlook on the expanded tourism exchange in 2020, 3) signing the proposal of the creditworthy tourism, and 4) developing projects jointly to expand tourism exchange among the three countries. As the Japanese tourism industry had been hit hard by the massive earthquake and tsunami that swept the nation in March 2011, the ministers were focused on seeking ways to strengthen cooperation to minimize the negative impacts of natural disasters on the tourism industry, and to jointly develop special tourism promotion programs and a crisis management manual.
based on reached agreements, the three ministers signed and published Joint Statement of the Sixth Trilateral Tourism Ministers’ Meeting which stipulated 4 strategies to promote the trilateral tourism cooperation and revitalize the tourism industries of the three countries, including Tourism Vision 2020 a blueprint expected to be finalized by the end of 2014. They also agreed to develop “10 Golden Tour Routes” for each country's tourism representatives to promote the routes overseas
in multiple languages and report the progress and outcome at next year's ministers’ meeting in Japan. They also vowed to monitor unfair activities like selling low-cost dumping package products by establishing the Trilateral Fair Trade in Tourism Initiative and regularly holding three-way seminars and symposiums as well as starting joint businesses to expand trilateral tourism exchange.

Around 450 representatives from governments, tourism industries of the three countries attended the meeting. On the sidelines of the meeting, about 300 tourism experts from the three countries held a Trilateral Tourism Forum to discuss cooperation measures to boost tourism industry in the region. Presidents of travel associations and representatives of tourism industries from the three countries deeply exchanged ideas and discussed about some mutually concerned issues. In the
afternoon, participants visited some places of interest, including Gangwon-do Gangneung, Phonograph Museum and ancient folk houses in Seongyojang, etc.

■Outcome :

About 400 governmental and industrial representatives from the three countries participated in the meeting. On the opening ceremony, three ministers poured water into a teacup together, indicating “making a pot of tea together”, and symbolizing the close friendship among the three neighboring countries separated only by a narrow strip of water. Participants also appreciated the Fireworks Show on the West Lake and “Impressions of the West Lake”, a landmark cultural program and
large-scale live-action song and dance.

Under the theme of “Looking into the Future, Cooperating Comprehensively, and Seeking Common Prosperity”, three ministers exchanged views on such issues as how to make full use of the comprehensive advantages in tourism industry, how to enhance trilateral tourism exchanges and cooperation mechanisms and deepen cooperation, and how to address the global environmental problems. Three ministers signed Joint Statement of the Fifth Trilateral Tourism Ministers’ Meeting which set a new goal of expanding the scale of people-to-people exchange among the three countries to 26 million by 2015, and adopted Joint Proposal on Low Carbon Tourism as well.

■ Outcome
More than 200 participants from tourism, education, aviation of the three countries attended the symposium. They held in-depth discussion on developing educational travel of youths of the three countries, as well as regulating the role of travel agencies and other institutions in educational travel. They also exchanged views on substantial exchange projects among the schools and improvement of educational travel crisis management system.

The 9th Symposium was scheduled to take place in Gwangju, ROK in 2014.

They held in-depth discussion of the status quo and the rules of educational travel of the three countries, shared ideas and experience of the development of educational travel, also exchanged views on difficulties and problems addressed to solve in the trilateral youth exchange activities.

Aiming at boosting youth educational travel programs and expanding tourism, the symposium brought together about 300 participants from governmental offices, educational institutions and travel agencies of the three countries.

The symposium opened with a welcome dinner that featured a performance by the Daegu Education Center for the Gifted and the Daegu Metropolitan Opera. Participants exchanged views on proposals for promoting educational travel among Youths of the three countries. They also visited Gyeseong High School, Gyeongbuk Technical School and had a tour around an arboretum, Dooryu Park and Nokdong Seowon, Gugwanmo Vinegar Museum, Seomun Market, Donghwasa, and Daegu Stadium.
