The Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) is pleased to announce the launch of the first Trilateral Teacher’s Exchange Program (TTEP) on Public Awareness, scheduled for August 8- 10, 2017, in the Republic of Korea. We are now recruiting teacher participants who are interested and eligible to attend this program. 

TCS is an international organization established in 2011 under the agreement of the governments of People’s Republic of China (China), Japan, and the Republic of Korea (ROK), aiming to “contribute to the future promotion of cooperative relations among the three countries”. One of the mandates of TCS is to “provide support for trilateral consultative mechanisms”, which include trilateral summit and trilateral ministerial meetings. Among over twenty trilateral mechanisms, Tripartite Environmental Ministers Meeting (TEMM) is one of the most active and longest existing mechanisms. Since 1999, the ministers of Ministry of Environmental Protection of China, Ministry of the Environment of Japan, and Ministry of Environment of ROK have been meeting annually for TEMM, aiming to “promote environmental management, to take a leading role in regional environmental management, and also to contribute to global environmental improvement”. Since TEMM16 in 2014, TCS has been playing a more and more active role to support this significant mechanism. In 2017, TEMM19 will be held in the Republic of Korea. 

The Tripartite Joint Action Plan (TJAP 2015-2019) endorsed by the three ministers at the TEMM17 listed out 9 environmental priority areas for the three countries to focus on. At TEMM18, the three ministers agreed that one of the priorities “Environmental Education, Public Awareness and Corporate Social Responsibility” will be targeted under the collaboration with TCS. TTEP was developed under this context. This program provides participants with opportunities of environmental site visit on good practices, as well as dialogue among teachers, policy makers, environmental experts, and journalists. With these opportunities, the participants not only can learn environmental protection knowledge and hands-on skills which can be taught back to the students, but also can exchange ideas about ways of promoting environmental education to the general public.
