On April 19, 2024, the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) received a delegation of undergraduate and graduate students from Korean Universities affiliated to the 2045 Fellowship Program. The 2045 Fellowship aims to foster leaders who will lead Korea in public fields such as politics, diplomacy, and economy. The visit to TCS was organized as one of the monthly sessions held during a 7 month long leadership program including a Leadership Summit and Team Projects.

In his opening remarks, TCS Secretary-General LEE Hee-sup metaphorically explained the interconnectivity of China, Japan and ROK through the idiom “if you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together”. Positioned as inseparable geographic neighbors, the three countries are bound not only by proximity but also by a shared history, culture, and economic interdependence, and their journey ahead shall be undertaken together, he stated.

TCS staff introduced the history of trilateral cooperation, the role of TCS, and ongoing trilateral cooperation projects in the areas of political, economic, and socio-cultural affairs. The students and TCS staff shared their insights through the Q&A and discussion session that followed.
