On August 2, 2023, TCS, along with UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Global Education and Training Institute (GETI), Asian Disaster Reduction Center (ADRC), and National Disaster Reduction Center of China (NDRCC) held CJK Education and Training Institutes Online Workshop with the theme “Tools and Technologies for Earthquake Risk Management: Sharing Experience from Northeast Asia”. Deputy Secretary-General BEK Bumhym participated in the workshop and delivered opening and closing remarks. 

In his remarks, DSG BEK stated that workshop provides an opportunity for us to share our experience and examples of effective practices, including through the application of technology, infrastructure resilience measures, sustainable and risk-informed recovery and build-back-better approaches. He mentioned that by working together, we can build a safer and more resilient future. He also hoped that this opportunity will kick-off networking of all disaster experts of CJK and other countries. 

This workshop aimed to increase experts’ understanding of existing tools, technologies, and effective practices for risk reduction such as risk assessment, early warning, building & infrastructure resilience measures and sustainable recovery. Over 500 participants from 83 countries and territories participated to the workshop, which achieved results from the perspective of “Trilateral Plus X” as well. TCS will continue to cooperate with disaster management related institutes in three countries in future.
