Others TCS Board Members Paid a Courtesy Visit to Minister of Health and Welfare CHUNG Chin-youb 2016.01.11
On January 11, 2016, the TCS board members paid a courtesy call to H.E. Mr. CHUNG Chin-youb, Minister of Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea. 

TCS Secretary-General YANG Houlan and Minister CHUNG shared views on health cooperation among the three countries and the importance of information exchange and medical technology cooperation as well as joint efforts to deal with the issue of aging society. 

SG YANG Houlan expressed sincere appreciation to Minister CHUNG and the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the ROK for the continuous support to the TCS. He congratulated the successful holding of the 8th Tripartite Health Ministers’ Meeting, and underlined the TCS’ readiness to follow-up on the outcomes of the last Meeting which was held in Kyoto, Japan in November, 2015. SG YANG proposed to organize a Track 1.5 Consultative Meeting on Health and Welfare Cooperation to discuss issues such as universal health coverage and aging society. 

Minister CHUNG spoke highly of the role of the TCS in facilitating and promoting trilateral cooperation. He emphasized the need for cooperation in the field of health and welfare among the three countries, and introduced various efforts that are under way by the three Ministries to follow up on the 8th Tripartite Health Ministers’ Meeting, including signing of an MOU regarding quarantine cooperation and a tripartite conference on long term care. He asked support from the TCS in co-organizing side events and hosting working-level meetings for the next Tripartite Health Ministers’ Meeting. Minister CHUNG also requested assistance from the TCS in supporting large health-related events including 2016 Bio & Medical Korea which is scheduled for late March, as well as various follow-up measures of the Tripartite Health Ministers’ Meeting. 

SG YANG reaffirmed the TCS’ willingness to make its best efforts to support the 9th Tripartite Health Ministers’ Meeting, which is scheduled to be held in the ROK in 2016.
