Others Trilateral Statistics Hub Expert Meeting held at the TCS Conference Room

On August 9th, 2024, the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) hosted the Trilateral Statistics Hub Expert Meeting. The TCS invited six experts to the online working group meeting, with two representatives from China, Japan, and Korea: Mr. KUANG Xianming, Vice President at the China Institute for Reform and Development; Mr. DONG Jianye, Research Associate at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation; Prof. KUNO Arata, Professor at Asia University; Mr. TAHARA Kengo, Principal Economist at the Japan Center for Economic Research (JCER); Dr. KIM Dongsoo, Senior Research Fellow at the Korea Institute for Industrial Economic and Trade (KIET); and Dr. Moon Ji Young, Associate Research Fellow at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP). The scholars provided valuable feedback and recommendations for the further development of the Trilateral Statistics Hub (TSH).
In the first part of the meeting, each expert shared their perspectives on the specific features of the TSH and offered recommendations for its future development. The younger experts, Dr. Moon, Mr. Tahara, and Dr. Dong, focused on improving data and indices selection on the platform. The senior experts, Prof. Kuno, Dr. Kim, and Dr. Kuang, discussed enhancing the TSH website's user experience to better serve a diverse audience. In the second part of the meeting, the experts engaged in an open discussion, exchanging recommendations for improving the TSH. The Korean experts delivered strong recommendations for refining the TSH website's user experience. The
Japanese experts addressed the originality of the TSH and adequate data selection for multiple purposes. The Chinese experts emphasized the necessity of further including data from adjacent regions such as ASEAN, noting their growing significance for the CJK countries.
The lively discussions at the Trilateral Statistics Hub Expert Consultation Meeting exemplify the shared vision for a more integrated and accessible statistical platform among East Asian societies. The TCS extends heartfelt gratitude to all participating experts for their precious insights and their invaluable contribution for the success of this working meeting.
