Seminar & Forum TCS Deputy Secretary-General YAN Liang Attended the 4th RCEP Media and Think Tank Forum 2024-05-19

On May 19, 2024, the 4th RCEP Media and Think Tank Forum themed "Shared Benefits, Win-win Cooperation" was held in Haikou, Hainan province of China. Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) Deputy Secretary-General YAN Liang was invited to attend the forum and delivered remarks. Co-hosted by China Institute of Reform and Development (CIRD), People’s Government of Hainan province and China Daily, the forum brought together more than 300 participants including experts and media and think tank representatives from RCEP member countries to share insights on further promoting cooperation in the framework of RCEP. 

In his remarks, DSG YAN gave high comments on RCEP’s achievements since it came into effect two years ago. DSG YAN underlined that RCEP is important for China, Japan, and the ROK as it provides the first trade agreements between the three countries. He also called for exploring the "China-Japan-ROK plus X" cooperation model to jointly promote regional economic integration. Furthermore, DSG YAN introduced TCS’s efforts in promoting trilateral and regional economic cooperation, such as hosting RCEP expert seminar and TCS’s close engagement with ASEAN stakeholders. 

During the forum, the participants engaged in extensive and in-depth discussions centering on “Fully Implementing the RCEP Agreement and Building up the Global Economic Growth Center”, “Improving the Utilization Rate of RCEP’s Rules and Advancing Regional Economic Integration" and "Leveraging Media & Think Tanks’ Role in Advancing RCEP’s Comprehensive Implementation and Upgrading” and made recommendations on how to promote the high-quality implementation of RCEP in the future. The RCEP Rules Utilization Research Report was also launched at the Forum.
