On May 27, 2022, Secretary-General OU Boqian attended the online 2022 International Forum on Regional Cooperation of China, Japan and South Korea & The 19th Northeast Asia Management and Economic Joint Conference, hosted by the Beijing Foreign Studies University of China. 

At the Forum, SG OU delivered remarks at the opening ceremony. She highlighted the crucial role of Trilateral Cooperation particularly amid global economic uncertainties caused by a series of global challenges. She stated that consolidating and enriching the Trilateral Cooperation is crucial to the lasting peace and common prosperity in the region and will inject strong confidence in world stability and economic resilience. In this regard, she put forward three dimensions of Trilateral Cooperation that could serve as the core engines to further accelerate economic integration in East Asia: 1) to strengthen trade partnerships and financial cooperation through the implementation of the RCEP Agreement and ASEAN+3 framework; 2) to foster collaboration in digital economy such as cross-border e-commerce, smart city and addressing digital divide for the aging society; 3) to explore cooperation in green economy by ramping up collaboration in advancing green technologies tailored to decarbonization to achieve carbon neutrality goals of the three countries. Apart from the TCS’s main functions, she also introduced TCS’s activities such as the Trilateral Statistics Hub, which is conducive for the researchers focusing on the study of Trilateral Cooperation. 

International Forum on Regional Cooperation of China, Japan and South Korea is an annual event hosted by the Beijing Foreign Studies University of China, aiming to promote in-depth research on the stability and cooperation in Northeast Asia. This year, the Forum was held under the theme of “China, Japan, South Korea and East Asian regional cooperation: the perspective of regional economic integration”, bringing together more than 200 participants, including scholars, researchers and students from China, Japan and the ROK.
