Seminar & ForumTCS DSG YAN delivered remarks at the 12th Seminar on Policy on Declining and Ageing PopulationOn October 31, 2024, TCS Deputy Secretary-General YAN Liang attended the 12th Seminar on Policy on Declining and Ageing Population and delivered congratulatory remarks during the opening session. This forum, hosted by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan and Children and Families Agency brought together government officials from China Population and Development Research Center and the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the ROK, as well as experts from the three countries. Participants shared insights on the current situation and solutions under the two themes: “Preventing Decline in Birth Rates and Marriage” and “Community-Based Integrated Care for the Elderly.” In his remarks, DSG YAN underscored the importance of this year’s themes, emphasizing that addressing declining birth rates and enhancing elderly care are essential to tackling aging population challenges in the region. Acknowledging the low birth rates and increasing elderly populations in all three countries, he stressed the need for collaboration in healthcare and social systems. TC ActivitiesSecretary-General of TCS LEE Hee-sup Delivers Remarks at Esports Championships East Asia 2024 Opening CeremonyOn November 1, 2024, Secretary-General of the TCS LEE Hee-sup delivered a remarks at the Esports Championships East Asia (ECEA) 2024 in Chengdu, China, which is hosted by the China Culture & Entertainment Industry Association, the Korea e-Sports Association, and the Japan Esports Union. LEE Hee-sup highlighted the recent designation of 2025–2026 as the “Years of Cultural Exchange” following the 9th Trilateral Summit, as well as key agreements from the Trilateral Culture Ministers’ Meeting, such as the 2024 Kyoto Declaration. He emphasized how esports has emerged as a vital bridge connecting young people from the three nations, fostering a positive and value-driven culture and creating new opportunities for global youth exchange. The East Asia Esports Championship, launched by the three countries’ cultural ministries through the Trilateral Cultural Content Industry Forum, promotes esports industry cooperation and cultural exchange among youth. The 4th East Asia Esports Championship was held offline for the first time, with China as the host.2024-11-01

Seminar & ForumTCS SG LEE Hee-sup delivered remarks at the East Asia Cooperation Forum 2024The East Asia Cooperation Forum 2024, hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, was held in Seoul, Korea on October 31, 2024. Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) Secretary-General LEE Hee-sup attended the forum to deliver congratulatory remarks. Under the theme “Trilateral Cooperation and Beyond – Responding to Common Challenges for Future Generations of East Asia”, the forum invited speakers from Korea and abroad to discuss on the expanding scope of trilateral cooperation in areas of cooperation and agents. Deputy Minister CHUNG Byung-won of the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Professor CHUN Chaesung of Seoul National University delivered opening remarks and a welcome speech respectively.In his remarks, SG LEE highlighted the significant milestone of the 25th anniversary of trilateral cooperation. He noted the challenges and achievements of trilateral relations, emphasizing the need for deeper trust to overcome political tensions and recent complex issues such as climate change, de-globalization, and demographic shifts. He underscored commitments such as expanding the CAMPUS Asia exchange program and fostering "Trilateral+X cooperation" with international partners to promote shared prosperity. OthersTCS Deputy Secretary-General YAN Liang Delivered a Lecture at Hankuk University of Foreign StudiesOn October 30, 2024, the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) Deputy Secretary-General YAN Liang, delivered a special lecture at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS). During his lecture, DSG YAN introduced the Trilateral Cooperation based on the 9th Trilateral Summit held in Seoul this May. He provided students with a detailed overview of the summit’s agenda and outlined the future direction of trilateral cooperation. DSG Yan also introduced the development history and functions of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat, encouraging students to actively participate in TCS’ various youth programs such as the Trilateral Youth Summit (TYS) and Young Ambassador Program (YAP) hosted under the Trilateral Youth Exchange Network (TYEN) Platform. The lecture attracted over 50 students.
