Others ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) visited the TCS 2022.12.07

On December 7, 2022, TCS Secretary-General Amb. OU Boqian met with Dr. LI Kouqing, Director of ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) and exchanged views on future cooperation between the two organizations. TCS Deputy Secretary-General SAKATA Natsuko and representatives of AMRO also attended the meeting. 

Secretary-General Amb. OU welcomed the AMRO delegation and extended appreciation on AMRO’s close collaboration on the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two organizations in April this year. SG OU highlighted the TCS’ endeavors in promoting economic cooperation among China, Japan, and the ROK, including Trilateral Economic Report, Trilateral Statistics Hub and the Forum on Carbon Neutrality Goals, etc. She stressed that TCS attaches importance to trilateral cooperation linked with ASEAN+3 process, in particular under the framework of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and hoped to strengthen collaboration with AMRO in this regard. 

Director LI briefed on the overall structure and functions of AMRO, which serves as a policy advisor to members in the ASEAN+3 region to promote regional financial stability. He also drew attention to AMRO’s major focus on conducting macroeconomic surveillance to forge regional resilience and sustainability in the context of growing uncertainty in global economy. 

Both sides agreed to step up cooperation and implement concrete collaborative projects on common interest in the ASEAN+3 framework in the future to jointly promote regional economic recovery and growth in East Asia.
