On November 11, 2021, TCS Secretary-General Amb. OU Boqian had an online meeting with Amb. Ganbold Baasanjav, Head of UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia-Pacific East and Northeast Asia Office (ESCAP-ENEA).

SG OU discussed the vital need for deepened Trilateral Cooperation in light of various transboundary challenges that the region is facing. One of such is climate change, where SG OU wishes to collaborate more with ESCAP-ENEA on relevant areas including environmental protection, sustainable city, digital economy and disaster management. She also noted that TCS, as the only institutionalised inter-governmental mechanism in Northeast Asia, will make efforts to enhance its advisory functions to the governments and further promote the idea of Trilateral Cooperation among the general public by implementing projects under the concept of “joint security, common prosperity and shared culture”.

Amb. Ganbold congratulated SG OU for assuming office. He introduced UNESCAP’s key work areas and underlined that the partnership between TCS and ESCAP-ENEA can bring synergy effects to accelerate cooperation in the region and beyond.

The two agreed to closely communicate and explore agendas for future joint projects.
