Others SG IWATANI Shigeo Paid a Courtesy Visit to the President of Seoul National University Mr. Oh Yeon-cheon

On December 20, Secretary-General Mr. Iwatani paid a courtesy visit to the President of Seoul National University Mr. Oh Yeon-cheon to discuss the ways to boost trilateral cooperation in the area of education. They exchanged views on the importance of academic exchanges as a basis for further cooperation among the three countries and agreed to put forward joint efforts toward the development in this area.
Mr. Oh introduced the progress of university exchanges among the three countries and some of the major achievements made at the recent BESETOHA University Presidents’ Forum - the President-level talks among Peking University, Seoul National University, the University of Tokyo and Vietnam National University, Hanoi – held at Seoul National University this year.
Mr. Iwatani expressed his hope that these academic exchanges can be developed into a joint university program such as Erasmus Mundus of Europe and that TCS can play a role in the process of coordination among the universities. He also showed his expectation that this kind of joint education project would make great contributions to identifying differences as well as common values among the three countries.
With this first meeting, the two leaders agreed to promote cooperation in following up with the agenda discussed in BESETOHA Forum and to jointly support future academic exchanges among the three countries.
