Mechanisms 10th Trilateral Senior Foreign Officials' Consultation held in Seoul

The 10th Trilateral Senior Foreign Affairs Officials' Consultation was convened on March 11, 2015 in Seoul, ROK. The meeting was presided by Mr. Lee Kyung Soo, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, with the participation of Mr. Shinsuke Sugiyama, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Mr. Liu Zhenmin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. Mr. IWATANI Shigeo, Secretary-General of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, the three senior officials reviewed the progress of trilateral cooperation since their last meeting in 2014 and exchanged views on the future direction of trilateral cooperation. The three sides also had in-depth discussion on the upcoming Trilateral Foreign Ministers Meeting and agreed to continue communication and coordination for its preparation. The three sides shared the views that all parties should cherish the progress achieved and take this opportunity to restore stalled cooperation by revitalizing various consultative mechanisms and cooperative projects.
With regard to the issues related to the TCS, the three senior officials reiterated their appreciation for TCS’ contribution and agreed to continue making joint efforts in supporting TCS’ activities.
