TCS SG LEE Hee-sup delivered remark at the 2024 China-Japan-Korea Industrial Cooperation & Development Forum
On 17 October 2024, Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) delegation led by Secretary-General LEE Hee-sup, attended the 2024 China-Japan-Korea Industrial Cooperation & Development Forum in Weifang, China. The event brought together more than 300 representatives from the governments and business sectors of the three countries.
In his remarks at the opening ceremony, SG LEE emphasized that the Forum comes at a pivotal moment, as trilateral cooperation is being revitalized following the fruitful Summmit of the three leaders in May this year. He highlighted the importance of stronger cooperation among China, Japan, and the ROK, particularly in stabilizing supply chains and driving industrial development, against the backdrop of rapid digital transformation and global geopolitical challenges. The "Weifang Initiative," proposed at the forum, will reinforce such positive momentum and mobilize collective efforts to address the shared challenges and promoting high-quality economic growth.
During the Forum, SG LEE also delivered opening remarks at the Cross-border E-commerce Ecosystem Optimization Symposium, where he underscored the growing role of e-commerce as a global economic driver, noting that cross-border e-commerce is vital to regional cooperation, especially under the RCEP framework. He further praised Weifang’s success in this sector and expressed TCS's commitment to fostering trilateral cooperation in e-commerce.
During the interview with local media, SG LEE commended the Forum and shared his optimism and confidence in the future of trilateral cooperation. He expressed hope that the forum would continue to play a key role in strengthening collaboration among the three countries and contributing to global peace and development.
