TRILATERAL COOPERATIONExploring cooperative activities and promoting
understanding of trilateral cooperation

Despite the political tides and economic fluctuations, people-to-people exchange among the three countries has constantly been increasing. More and more people are traveling to another country for business, studies, or leisure, and the relations among three countries are getting deeper and closer in terms of people-to-people contexts. Even in times of strained bilateral and trilateral relations, increased people-to-people exchange has helped promote mutual understanding and cooperation among the three countries.

Recognizing the importance of tourism cooperation, the three governments established the Trilateral Tourism Ministers’ Meeting (TTMM) in 2006 to further strengthen and institutionalize cooperation in tourism among the three countries. The Meeting set goals to expand trilateral people-to-people exchange to 30 million by 2020 and to launch the “Visit East Asia Campaign”, which is a joint regional tourism project to attract the visitors from the regions beyond East Asia. The TCS has made efforts to strengthen its engagement in this mechanism through such efforts as organizing a forum session on the promotion of “Visit East Asia Campaign” and keeping close contact with the three relevant ministries for the further enhancement of mutual collaboration under the TTMM.
